In the role of Tax Accounting Manager, you will work with the tax & accounting teams to meet compliance requirements. You will also work independently to complete and/or review various tax filings due throughout the year while looking for opportunities to more effectively meet our needs. In this role you will have the opportunity to train staff, work with 3rd party consultants & support operations by answering questions & providing specialized data. Discretion is required as this role may have access to confidential personnel & owner information.

Tax Accounting Manager:
  • Prepare and/or review workpapers, coordinate & manage income & franchise tax extensions, estimates and returns with 3rd party
  • Assist in the review of federal and state income and franchise tax returns, and supporting workpapers, prepared by 3rd party or internal tax staff
  • Provide assistance on federal & state income tax audits
  • Manage and oversee the proper filing of returns for unclaimed property, US sales/use tax, and personal property tax.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of property tax and sales/use tax accounts for the Accounting Department.
  • Follow up on various tax notices &assessments from federal and state taxing authorities.
  • Research various income tax & property tax compliance issues.
  • Train & supervise Tax staff
  • Prepare workpapers & assist the Director of Tax in meeting the Company’s REIT status requirements, assist with REIT Testing (quarterly & annually), assist with annual REIT Property Questionnaire tracking & coordination, & discuss on-going operational changes with the Director of Tax to evaluate tax effects.
  • Assist Director of Tax with managing Tax Department administrative tasks including, but not limited to, working with outside consultants to review their engagement letters, discuss terms for their services, & manage the invoice/payment process.
  • Manage special tax projects as they arise including, but not limited to, identifying & implementing accounting method changes effecting taxes that are required by the IRS, manage various credits & incentives projects, & assist with merger & acquisition models.
  • Prepare annual financial statement income tax provision calculations for federal & state taxes.
  • Must possess strong organizational skills & an attention to detail.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) in accounting is required CPA preferred. CPA eligible required.
  • 4+ years of corporate and/or partnership tax experience required. Sales/use, personal property real estate tax knowledge is preferred.
  • Must be able to read & interpret governmental form instructions.
  • Possess a strong knowledge of General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) & the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Ability to organize & interpret extensive amounts of data.
  • Ability to independently develop & complete projects.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities & meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical & problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal/written communication & customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in computer use & relevant software applications.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to support, practice & deliver the “Holiday Touch” 100% of the time.
  • Must demonstrate high standards of ethics & personal accountability.
